Impact 2 Empower: A Story of Listening and Believing

In the quiet moments of our lives, when the sun has just begun to rise and the world is still half-asleep, we often hear a whisper—a gentle nudge from within. It’s that little voice that tugs at our hearts, urging us to pay attention, to take action. For me, that voice became the catalyst for a remarkable journey—one that would touch the lives of local students and transform the way we view something as simple as a pair of shoes.

It all started a few years back. I had been at home, raising our young family for over 10 years at that point. While the joy and crazy of motherhood filled my days, there was an underlying restlessness—an unspoken desire to contribute, to make a difference beyond the walls of our home. I prayed for guidance, seeking answers to the age-old question: “What am I supposed to do now? What is my purpose?”

And then, on a seemingly ordinary morning in July 2021, clarity arrived. It was unmistakable—a shift, a change, a knowing. I was meant to do something with shoes. Yes, shoes—the very things that carry us through life, step by step. But not just any shoes. Shoes with a purpose, with intention. Shoes that would empower young hearts and minds.

“"Why NOT?" I asked myself. Why not help kids in need? Why not help with shoes? Why do some kids and teenagers, have to wear shoes that don't fit, that hurt their feet, that are falling apart? Why do they have to wear shoes they absolutely hate? Why not offer thse kids shoes that fit AND the gift of choice—the opportunity to express who they are and where they want to go in life? To fit in or stand out!

And so, in just a few short weeks, our plan was in motion and Impact Shoes was born. Our mission was unequivocal: to supply students in need with brand name new shoes, empowering them the freedom to select the style and color that best reflects their personal journey.

These shoes have become more than mere accessories; they are symbols of confidence, love, and support. With each step, our students walk the hallways with their heads held high, knowing they are worth it.

As of 2024, Impact Shoes has touched the lives of over 350 students in local school districts. And our work still isn’t done! In January 2024, we officially became Impact 2 Empower, a non-profit organization fueled by the belief that every child deserves to feel empowered, loved, and supported. As for now, we wait eagerly for the next nudge, the next push— the next sign pointing towards the next impact.
